In all my battles over faith and reason

I somehow had missed the great-granddaddy of them all Robert Grosseteste, Bishop of Lincoln, inventor of resolution and composition an early form of the Scientific Method, and the world's first Scientific Cosmologist, working at a time when the Church had barely been able to surpress astrology.

And of course, as I've blogged about before It turns out that resolution and composition are vulnerable to the decline effect.
