Good without God?

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy:

Yes, I just started a post on Atheism with a link to the Catholic Encyclopedia.  But there is a good reason for that.

This list of 14 items is what is needed to be good in a post-Christian society.  It is something I believe both the left and the right have failed at.

The 14 works of Mercy:

  • To feed the hungry;
  • To give drink to the thirsty;
  • To clothe the naked;
  • To harbour the harbourless;
  • To visit the sick;
  • To ransom the captive;
  • To bury the dead.
  • To instruct the ignorant;
  • To counsel the doubtful;
  • To admonish sinners;
  • To bear wrongs patiently;
  • To forgive offences willingly;
  • To comfort the afflicted;
  • To pray for the living and the dead.

These are the basics. This is what Christianity came to do for the world. If you wish to claim to be Good without God, these are the basics that you MUST cover.
